A Short Bio of Frank Dorrel:I publish & distribute the book titled ADDICTED To WAR, Why The U.S. Can't Kick Militarism by Joel Andreas.
I put together and distribute this 2-hour DVD titled "What I've Learned About U.S. Foreign Policy: The War Against The Third World".
I am a listener and a long time supporter of KPFK 90.7 FM Radio. This is where I first learned about the true nature of U.S. foreign policy or as I call it, "The BIG LIE".
I am a member of Veterans For Peace, both local and national chapters. I was in the US Air Force.
I am on the board of CAMS - Coalition Against Militarism in Our Schools run by Arlene Inouye.
I am a supporting member of the Office of the Americas run by Blase and Theresa Bonpane.
I have worked closely with Cole Miller, founder of NoMoreVictims and with many other people working for peace and justice organizations here in Los Angeles and around the country.
I am a member of the Green Party. While I support a few democrats here & there, I do not support the democratic party.
I am a member of the Santa Monica Unitarian Church. I value the support and friendship of Rev. Judith Meyer, who is the minister there. I have also worked with the Faith In Action Committee at the church.
I have put on or helped to put on many anti-war events in the LA area in the last 5 or 6 years.
During this same time period my wife, Jane and I have also hosted 4 to 6 events per year at our home in Culver City.
I helped to start the Arlington West Memorial in Santa Monica, a project of the Los Angeles Chapter of Veterans For Peace. It is located just next to the Santa Monica Pier. You are invited to experience it on any Sunday and are more then welcome to help put it up, beginning around 7:30 AM or help take it down, about an hour before sunset on any Sunday. If you haven't been to Santa Monica to see this memorial, please plan to do so when you get a chance. It is a very moving and important thing to experience. Arlington West was originated by VFP in Santa Barbara.
For the last four years I have gone to the big protest to close the School of the Americas located at Fort Benning, Georgia. This amazing event takes place every year the weekend before Thanksgiving. If you are able, I highly recommend going to experience it. Last year over 19,000 people came from all over the country to protest the SOA.
Over the last 6 years we have had the following people speak at our home in Culver City: S. Brian Willson, Blase Bonpane, Michael Ruppert, Preston Wood, Don White, Barbara Trent, William Blum, Kathy Kelly, Jane Bright, Joel Andreas, Linda Tubach, Bob McCloskey, Hwa Young Lee, Gerard Ungerman, Audrey Brophy, Cole Miller, Peter Dudar, Sally Marr, Mark Manning, Don Bustany, Mike Boehm, Ed Ellis, Chuck Nixon, Gary Silbiger & others.
We have hosted house concerts and music by Charlie King & Karen Brandow, The Prince Myshkins, David Rovics, Dave Lippman, Andy Manoff, Ross Altman, Stephen Fiske, Dennis Davis, Yumi Kikuchi, Gen Morita & Peter Dudar.
We have shown the following films at our house: What I've Learned About U.S. Foreign Policy, The Hidden Wars of Desert Storm, Arlington West, The Oil Factor, The Friendship Village and Caught In The Crossfire: The Road To Falluja.
Much love and appreciation go out to so many of the good friends I have made in the Peace Movement.
